The Mountain Goats were in town recently but that was just an opening slot for Jason Isbell (albeit at the wonderful Beacon Theatre). A headline tour was announced last month which included a nearby show in Jersey City at the recently re-opened White Eagle Hall (tickets). However, while an NYC date was missing from those shows, the band have since added one at Brooklyn Steel on the 12th of November, tickets are on sale now (full dates below the jump).
Mountain Goats latest album (their sixteenth), Goths, was released in May via Merge Records and it’s a great addition to their discography. It also happens to be their first guitar-less record, driven mostly by slick basslines, jazzy synths and horns, along with Jon Wurster’s masterful percussion.
The last time I saw the band was at Webster Hall in 2015 (FW review), so I’m particularly excited. All November dates will feature Mothers as the opening act.
